Our History

Pregnancy Lifeline is a private, nonprofit, Christian ministry devoted to helping women experiencing a crisis pregnancy. Our goal is to minister to the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of these women, sharing God’s love and hope for their future. We share accurate information about the risks of abortion and the other options of marriage, single parenting and adoption. Ultimately we hope to provide the help needed for them to give life to their unborn child.

Pregnancy Lifeline began on March 30, 1973 as a Social Service organization providing assistance to women in crisis pregnancy situations. The organization began as a result of the concern of three women who were receiving no help or little help from other sources. Until 1982, it was called Together. However, in 1983 the name changed to Pregnancy Lifeline more accurately describing the organization. The first office of Together was on 8th Avenue in the sweltering second story of an old house. From 1983 until 1985 Pregnancy Lifeline was in two different office buildings, each one an improvement over the other.

Since 1986, our office has been across from Hulen Mall. This location has given us visibility and easy accessibility for our clients. Also, Pregnancy Lifeline has been blessed with an attractive and appealing office. We have had several directors since that time and are currently staffed by an Executive Director, one full-time and two part-time staff members and 30 volunteers. We have seen a dramatic increase in client visits from 1200 in 2000 to 4,703 in 2007. In accordance with that growth, last year we expanded from 1,398 sq. ft to a 3,900 sq. ft. facility.

It is our hope that every client will choose life for their baby, but we will be here for them no matter what decision they make. We are a life-affirming organization and do not believe in abortion under any circumstances and believe that children are a gift from God and that He has a plan for each life.
