Day 1
When fertilization occurs, the baby's features, including sex, hair and eye color, have already been determined.
Days 5-9
During this time the fertilized egg implants itself in the uterus.
Days 18 – 20
The foundations of the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system are formed.
Day 21
The heart begins to beat.
Day 26-27
The lungs are forming.
Day 28 – 32
The tiny arms are forming, the mouth begins to take shape, the nose is developing. The blood flows through the babies veins. The face can be seen.
Day 40
The baby makes its first reflex movement. Brain waves can be detected and recorded.
Day 41
The fingers are forming and a couple of days later the toes are forming.
Day 42
The brain is divided into three parts – one for emotion and understanding language, one for hearing and seeing. Joints are formed.
Day 44
Internal organs are present. Brain activity is detected.
Day 52
Spontaneous movement begins. During the next 4 weeks, the baby will hiccup, frown, squint, furrow the brown, purse the lips, move arms and legs, turn head, touch it’s face, breath, stretch, open the mouth, yawn and suck.
Week 8
The baby is well proportioned. Every organ is present. The liver is making blood, the kidneys function, the heart beats. Everything is now present that is present in a fully developed adult. The fetus responded to touch.
Week 9
Fingerprints are evident. The fetus will curve its fingers around an object placed in its hand.
Week 10
The fetus can squint, swallow and wrinkle its forehead.
Week 11
The face has assumed a baby’s profile and movements are being coordinated.
Urination occurs
Week 12
The fetus now sleeps, awakens and exercise energetically. Turns its head, curls its toes, opens and closes its mouth.
Week 13
Fair hair has grown on its head. Sexual differentiation has become apparent.
